A little something I whipped up while trying to use up stash. This is a mini tote bag for holding my crossword puzzle books and pens. Easy to hang on a doorknob near the desk or dining table, or on a chair back near the coffee table. Especially easy to hang on my walker handlebar so I can just grab & go.

This used up about 3/4 of an odd skein of Lion Brand Homespun that was given to me by a fellow crocheter who said she only had 2 choices for this yarn: burn it or give it away -- LOL. It can be a little difficult to work with, but I tamed it with a size K hook, a little patience, and the knowledge that I was making something small enough to be finished within an hour or 2 at most.

With the addition of a fabric lining and either a zipper or button closure, this could very easily become a handbag/purse. And since you can adjust how short or long you want the handles to be, you can even make it into a shoulder bag.

I wrote this pattern in plain, every day language so that even beginners can read and understand. The only abbreviation I used was ‘sc’ for single crochet. Everything else is clearly spelled out.

All you need to know to be successful with this pattern is how to:

chain
single crochet
make 2 single crochet stitches into one previous stitch
slip stitch to join
securely weave in ends
