Miniature doll
The doll can be made in 1:24th scale, 1:12th scale, 1:6th scale or as a small doll for a child.
The theme of the pattern is shaping and how to use some of the different shaping techniques in knitting and the results the various methods produce.
With all the doll knitted flat on two needles and then sewn up, the main parts knitted in stocking stockinette stitch with some simple colour changes and some simple shaping, this should be within the abilities of most knitters from beginners to experienced alike. There is also a choice of clothes, which should suit all abilities or if the doll is being made as a toy, give a change of clothing.
This was originally published on my blog as the 2017 Advent Calendar
Materials:
One pair of knitting needles as detailed below; spare needle, stitch holder or safety pin; small amount of stuffing material plus oddments of yarn in 5 to 7 colours (see yarn thickness notes below) you will need slightly more skin and hair coloured yarn, as clothes can be worked in any colours you choose. Exact amounts of yarn are not given but no more than a 5-15 metres of each will be required for the smaller sizes and perhaps 10-30 metres of colours in 4-ply and DK. Optional: thin ribbon for bows on hair.
