Punch Embroidery thread breaks easily if you pull just a bit too hard on it. I sewed the pieces together with thread tails from each piece which worked fine for me but you could also use dental floss to sew the pieces together. The pieces will lose shape as you work with them but are easily put back into shape by working at them with your fingers.
