Notes:
- This pattern is written in us terms for the right handed crocheter
- This pattern is written with the beginner in mind and has a photo tutorial
- Unless otherwise noted, all color changes will be double stranded
- Chains at the beginning of rounds do not count in stitch count
- Numbers in parentheses at end of rounds indicate total number of sts for that round
- This pattern was designed for strength and durability because I wanted the finished product to be intended for everyday use
- This pattern was created using red heart super saver yarns and has been tested using I love this yarn and Caron yarns. I do not recommend using Caron simply soft if you are intending for this bag to be used daily as it did not seem to hold up to the weight of books very well
- The pattern testers and I hung our finished products for 2+ weeks with 3- 4 heavy text books and measured for stretch, looked at stitching to see if any pulled or came loose. End result was that there was no difference between the i love this yarn and rhss brands. Shape and durability remained the same.
- Bag shape remained intact and durable after several washes
- Finished product measures 18” wide by 23 ¾” tall when laid flat
- Recommended care of finished product: wash cold, dry on low heat or hang to dry
- When switching colors, always leave long ends for weaving in at the end (6” – 8” long). When weaving in the ends i highly recommend going back and forth at least 4 times as you want to maintain the integrity/durability of the bag
- We did find that if you simply crochet over the ends like you can with hats and some afghan designs, some stitches will loosen after a while with weight and the bag loses its durability
- Have fun with it! This pattern can be used to create the purple minions as well! Instead of royal blue use plum, and instead of yellow use medium purple. Instead of using black at the top you can use purple and purple fun fur (just do not do attempt the picots with the fun fur as it tends to just annoy you and you’ll end up in a battle with your yarn )
