Minnesota Mitts Four Ways
These mitts were inspired by the necessity of warm hands in the cold northern climate and the desire to add a bit of whimsy to winter accessories.
This is a basic recipe and can be changed to fit your personality. I like to knit them in rustic wool, handspun is perfect for this pattern.
A great stash buster as you only need 60-80 yards of each color. I save all my little bits of left over Kureyon and join them together to make skeins that are perfect for these mitts.
This pattern includes four versions of the mitts, one fingerless in stockinette, one fingerless with ribbing at both ends, one bulky striped mitten, and one striped worsted mitten. These patterns are perfect for a beginning knitter wanting to try a project knit in the round using DPNs.
I have made many of these for my friends and colleagues and are perfect for gifting. You can make a single mitt in an evening.
