1) This cowl is worked from the bottom up.
2) Each section prior to a decrease round can be shortened or lengthened according to personal taste. Also, after last decrease round, length of ribbing or type of ribbing can be adjusted. For instance, a ribbed turtleneck worked longer and turned onto itself could be substituted for the simple ribbed neck edge. Or an alternate stitch pattern altogether could be substituted, such as garter or seed stitch.
3) The Antique Teal model demonstrates a bead placed on every Rd 1a, 1b, 1c rd. The Wine model demonstrates a bead placed on every other Rd 1a, 1b, and 1c.
4) If gauge is not met, an additional ball of yarn may be needed. There was little yarn left over.
