This is a redesign of The Peacock’s Tale with a bit of Radiata thrown in. It’s still a crescent shape, but with a new construction that avoids the dreaded cast on hump which some knitters experience. There are also fun new transitions between the later feathers, and a new ending with a quirky twist.

  • The design suits 500-1200m or more of lace to fingering yarn, in solid, semi-solid, gradient or subtle speckle varieties.
  • The design can be worked entirely from the written pattern, or from charts with some notes.
  • Pattern rows are worked on the right side only.

The shawl is technically in 2 sizes, however several of the feathers can be either skipped or repeated to use more or less yarn. And the edging is ouroboros-style, so you can work right to the end of the chart, then go back to the start and do it again if you want to..

It’s named for the Pont dei Miracoli in Venice, where it was photographed. (The miracle in this case being that there was a 2 minute break in the otherwise solid wall of foot traffic - just enough to snatch a few quick photos!)
