Miraitowa and Someity
Miraitowa (ミライトワ) is the official mascot of the 2020 Summer Olympics, and Someity (ソメイティ) is the official mascot of the 2020 Summer Paralympics. Miraitowa is named after the Japanese words for “future” (mirai) and “eternity” (towa). While Someity is named after someiyoshino, a type of cherry blossom in Japan. Someity’s name also echoes the English phrase “so mighty”. Both fictional characters have various superpowers, such as teleportation. They are created by Japanese artist: Ryo Taniguchi
