Misfit is designed in collaboration with Misfit Yarns’ incredible neon colorways. I wanted to create something casual, easy to wear, and detailed but not too difficult to knit. I also wanted to embody an amalgamation of both myself and Michele, so that both of our artistic visions were present in the final pattern. Michele allowed me complete creative freedom, which made it possible to conjure up the perfect representation of our styles. When it came time to give this tunic a personality, we went through a hefty list of options, but nothing seemed to fit. That’s when it hit me like a ton of bricks! Not only are The Misfits one of Michele’s favorite bands, the name is also an ironic nod to just how long it took to decide on a concept, shape and fit the garment into a perfect silhouette that would look great on all body types and be reproducible as a pattern, and choose on a suitable name for it. Misfit is truly an oddball and we hope you love it as much as we do!

Misfit is a relatively simple garment that is knit from the bottom up, in three flat pieces, and seamed together at the sides and shoulders. What makes this tank top unique are the use of short rows and blocking to create curves along the back, subtle twisted stitch pattern work, and pretty folded hem edging that adds a bit of structure. Misfit Yarns fingering weight sock gives this design a really beautiful drape which is so soft and light, you’ll feel like you’re not wearing anything at all.
