Welcome to The Film Sock Society in which we will celebrate our love for sock knitting and films.

This is the second volume in the Sock Society series, a collection featuring three different new sock patterns inspired by three of my favorite characters in cinema: Miss Kenton (The Remains of the Day), Sally Albright (When Harry Met Sally), and Laura Jesson (Brief Encounter).

I hope you enjoy creating cozy socks from these patterns, and perhaps feel tempted to watch the films if you haven’t yet. Happy knitting! From January 2nd 2025, I will be hosting a knit-a-long on my Ravelry forum. Please, join us!

Miss Kenton Socks

The last design is inspired by the charming and elegant tiny frilled details of Miss Kenton’s housekeeper uniform. I love Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel, but I’m, for once, partial to the striking film adaptation of The Remains of the Day by James Ivory.
Miss Kenton’s socks are worked from toe to cuff, and feature a lovely and minimalistic plumetti pattern topped with a classic antique lace frill at the cuff.
