If you haven’t already purchased Morse Stitch Decoded you will need to do so in order to knit this cardigan. Morse Stitch Decoded comes with three complementary patterns. Two are for cowls - Spy Ring and The Circus - the other is for this baby blanket. The net proceeds of the sales of Decoded will be donated to the charity Freedom From Torture.
Miss Morselle is a practical but pretty hip-length cardigan for a little girl to wear over leggings or a dress.
The yoke and puff sleeves are knitted in the bobbly side of morse stitch, the body in stocking stitch, the two being separated by a line of braid. The border is worked in garter stitch, as are the sleeve cuffs which can therefore be knit in the round. Once the yoke has been completed this is a very fast knit - and a seamless one. A video showing how to knit the lateral braid for this cardigan is available on YouTube.
Yarn:
For sizes 21” and 23” chest: c.411 - 548 yds of sport weight yarn (e.g. Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino).
For sizes 24” - 26” chest c.508 - 548 yds of DK/heavy DK yarn - see examples above
Gauge:
Varies according to yarn weight and needle size - the pattern gives full details.
Also needed: a set of double-pointed needles of the same size as those used for the body (optional); stitch markers; two lengths of scrap yarn; a tapestry needle and three 15mm buttons.
A big thank-you to Chloe and Hannah, future supermodels!
