Miss Rumphius Hat was designed to show off one special skein of Spinycle Yarns Dream State. It was the first thing I cast one when we recieved our beloved shop colorway from Spincycle “Miss Rumphius”!

We’ve also knitted a sample in Spincycle Trine, and this hat would also be beautiful in handspun, colour-changin yarns, or even mixing scraps together.
The mostly reverse stockinette fabric beautifully shows off colour-changing yarns.

CONSTRUCTION:
Knit from the bottom up in the round in one piece

Sizing:
This beanie comes in one size, suited to fit most adults and older children. If you’d like to make it smaller or larger, I recommend changin needle sizes. Bear in mind yarn quantities may change

Size: approx. 46cm/18 in in circumference unstretched, and 21.5cm/8.5in tall. Worn in a classic beanie style, it stretches to fit most adult head sizes comfortably

Needles:
4.5 mm/US Size 7 needle (40 cm length recommended) 4.5mm/US Size 7 double-pointed needles (or longer circular for magic loop if preferred)
3.75 mm/US Size 5 needle (40 cm length recommended) Or needle sizes to obtain gauge

Notions:
Tapestry needle (for finishing)
Stitch Markers- 1

Yarn:
Spincycle Yarns Dream State
Or similar yarn that can achieve gauge

Quantity Needed:
1 skein, 137 metres / 150 yards total
