Miss Truffle cowl
Ok, the winter has ended and I don’t really need a cowl right now.
But I enjoyed working the lace-part of https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/miss-truffle
(on offer right now) so much and I wanted to use it again.
It turned out to be the perfect project for this season.
Practical size, enough going on, use of scrap-yarns, and I have a cowl ready for autumn.
My testers seemed to enjoy the pattern, too. Some of them made 2, and even 3 cowls. They are all beautiful.
For the list of testers, read further down.
Size
Circumference: 50 cm/20” Height: 25 cm/10”
The above measurements regard the sample, with a cast-on of 120 sts and worked at gauge (see below).
If you want a wider circumference, you may cast on for more pattern-repeats, or work at a looser gauge. If you want a shorter/longer cowl, you may work less/more repeats of each pattern section.
Construction
Bottom up and in the round. And, of course, it’s seamless.
Materials
Yarn:** I used Sandnes ”Mini Alpakka” to work my cowl. MC – the main colour: colourway 1042, Grey. Of this colour I used 135 m/150 yards. CC – the contrasting colour: colourway 4313, Dusty Pink. Of this colour I used 50 m/ 55 yards. I recommend that you use a yarn that knits up to gauge: a fingering weight, a sport weight, or a DK weight yarn to work the cowl. If using 2 colours or more, I recommend that all yarn should be in the same weight and the same fibre.
Needles: a circular needle, 40 cm/16”, size 3 mm/US2.5 (or size to obtain gauge).
Gauge
24 sts and 32 – 34 sts, worked in pattern (sections 1 and 2) in the round, after blocking = 10 cm/4”. Gauge isn’t extremly important, unless you want to work to accurate measurements.
Knitting skills
Intermediate
Techniques involved
Cast on. Bind off. Working in the round.
Working lace, following charts and/or written instructions.
Twisted sts (could be worked with, or without a cable needle).
The pattern

- All measurements are given in cm’s, as well as in inches.
- The pattern is tested and proofread.
