Missandei
This shawl design was born out of an idea to create delicate little butterflies with simple lace and well-placed beads.
It’s named for Game of Thrones’ Missandei, Queen Daenerys’ much-loved scribe, who hailed from the Island of Naath - the Butterfly Isle.
The crescent shape grows quickly, creating a nicely curved shawl that sits easily on the shoulders. It’s not overly deep, but has a generous wingspan, making it perfect for wrapping.
Bead and lace butterflies are followed by gentle waves of feather and fan lace. The shawl is finished of with a simple, but elegant knit-on lace edge.
Both Butterfly and F&F lace charts can be repeated as many times a you wish to make a larger shawl.
Fluffy Cat Light yarn (Alpaca/Cashmere/Silk) has a lovely halo. When paired with shimmering beads, the shawl has an ethereal look - perfect for any member of Daenerys’ royal house.
