Circular knitting needle size 5 (3.75mm), 36 in. (91.5 cm) long (to work side borders)
Circular needle is used to accommodate large number of stitches. Work back and forth in rows as if working on straight needles.

Scarf is worked in two columns of mitered Squares. Stitches are picked up across the edge of previous Square(s) to begin the next Square.

Each Square is worked back and forth in rows with decreases worked in the center of every other row to form the miter.
