This pattern is actually two patterns. The mitten is a simple, standard mitten worked in 1x1 rib. The muffatee is a rectangle seamed at the inside of the wrist.

There are no special techniques or tricks for this project. It’s just a good old fashioned mitten with some pretty accents.
