I used Knit Picks merino wool sock weight yarn (US size 5) for the first mittens, and Caron Simply Soft solids (US size 6) for the second pair. The red pair was made to match a scarf and hat I made for her, and the increase in needle size and yarn weight makes them slightly larger.

You can change the size by working with a heavier or lighter weight and the appropriate size needle for that weight.
