The pattern is part of my new book
“Eine Viktorianische Strickreise” / “a victorian knitting journey”.

The german book is available on my website. The gnglish book will be available in spring 2020.

The inspiration for these mittens came from a Weldon’s Practical Knitter» magazine, dating back to 1889. Victorian knitting patterns are fascinating, they are full of whimsy and fun details.

The mittens feature two very beautiful stitch patterns: The border is not plain ribbing, but in a pretty ripple pattern.
The body of the mitten is in a very typical victorian knit and purl pattern, which looks very intricate and adds thermal warmths.

I rewrote the pattern completely, corrected the errors and added charts. The original pattern is for mittens without tips. It would be easy to knit the mittens without the tips, if you prefer it that way

The mittens are knitted from the cuff up in the round on circular needles with the magic loop method.
