Introduction

This drapey sleeveless vest is the perfect layer for cooler days. Beginner-friendly and easy to make, it uses a variation on the mixed cluster stitch to create a beautiful fabric and a soft, loose fit.

The vest is worked in one piece from the lower edge up to the underarm. The piece is then divided for armholes, and back and fronts worked separately.

Materials List

  • 1600m/1750y or 400gr/14oz. of sports/fine yarn. I used 4 balls of Hobbii’s Twister Solid in dark gray. If you want to make a larger size, make sure you get at least 5 balls.
  • 4mm hook (G-6 US) (8 UK)
  • Stitch markers
  • Tapestry needle to weave in ends
  • For alternative yarns, see https://yarnsub.com/yarns/hobbii/twister

Gauge
18 stitches and 14 rows in mixed cluster stitch in a 10x10cm/4x4” square (or 9 x 7 full clusters, which might be easier to count)
