Mmm …

Simply because ‘Mini Mosaic Mitres’ was a mouthful.

This cowl is certainly scrumptious enough to be described as Mmm. If you’ve already knit the Mmm Beanie then you’ll know I’m right.

Picking your colours is just the beginning of the fun. What will you chose, lots of vibrant colours or a subtle gradient?

Working flat, you will create a sideways construction, bandana style cowl that you will join together via a crochet seam. The pattern is formed using a clear combination of knits, purls and slip stitches that will build a beautiful and eye-catching bandana style cowl.

Written in full with handy progress check boxes, so you can keep a visual track of where you are.

I have formatted this pattern in such a way that you should only need to print page 3 thru 7 (double sided). Saving the planet one unprinted page at a time.

You will find a reference chart and blocking schematics on page 8 & 9.

Skills used …

• Long tail cast on.
• Knit, purl and slip stitches.
• Increasing and decreasing.
• Crochet seam join.

You will need the following …

DK ~ 90g colour A and 90g colour B

Be sure to choose two colours that are highly contrasting. You can check this by taking a black and white photo.

Alternatively your colour B could be split over a number of minis.

• 4mm (US 6) 32 inch (80 cm) circulars.
• 13 stitch markers. * 3.5mm or 4mm crochet hook for seam join.
• Tapestry needle (the sewing those dreaded ends in).

(Or size required to obtain gauge). Long straight needles could be used.

Gauge

4mm : 20 stitches and 28 rows (4 inch / 10 cm stocking stitch in the round).

The stitch pattern allows for plenty of stretch so don’y panic if you think it’s looking a little smaller than you’d expect to start with.

Blocking ~ I know many don’t like blocking and just want to wear their knit asap but trust me when I tell you blocking is key for the drape of this cowl. You’ve put the time in to knit it, so a little more time is worth it.
