Marlene Miller’s Mmmm… Shrug design is of low level difficulty (2/5). The shrug is oversized, and based on knit and purl stitches. Following the pattern, the approximate dimensions of the finished piece will be:

100cm wide when lain flat
56cm in height from edge to edge (neck to tailbone)
20cm deep armholes (40cm around)

The silk edging is approximately 9cm wide. This forms the top (neckline) of the shrug, as it is far less itchy than the mohair yarn on the skin. Using the silk in this way means that the shrug is far more comfortable to wear - of course, the silk looks lovely too!

This is a downloadable pattern. We also sell kits on our etsy shop (BeautifulSilks), which include the materials required. To knit this pattern you will require:

  • 120g loop mohair yarn approximately 2ply (300m)
  • 30g fat silk yarn just under 8 ply (46m)
  • A pair of 7mm needles
  • A pair of 5mm needles
  • A needle for sewing yarn
