“Mo Bhòid”
The name of this cowl has come from the Gaelic words for “My Vow”.
Throughout history vows have been spoken and taken between Man and Woman, Father to Child, Man to Man, Godparent to Godchild, Clansmen to Chieftain, Man to Country, and many more.
With the giving or receiving of a vow, a shared and sacred energy is rested upon our shoulders for comfort and the knowing that you stand connected, until such time that the vow has run its course or been dissolved.
I have therefore created a cowl that sits upon the shoulders offering that warmth, comfort and security, whilst giving an openness to its fabric that reminds me of the layers and times in history when these vows would have been made, and some that are still carried with us today.
Created in wedding colours it would also be a very fitting shoulder piece for any bride to wear whilst saying her vows in a chilly location.
Its designed in Aran yarn and can be finished in three different ways to allow you to create the style that’s most appealing for yourself.
I haven’t included a gauge as the pattern is adaptable to fit your sizing by repeating the pattern rows.
