A shawl is something for every season, every age, every occasion.
We loved taking pictures of Renzo modeling it, to fully prove our point and break a stereotype.
But having children, even if they are a bit grown up at the moment, we immediately imagined Mòcheni as a perfect gift for an expecting mom: in the first month it’s going to be a warm embrace for the baby, and later for the whole family. I have personally some stories of shawls knitted as baby blankets, that the whole family enjoyed.
Another benefit is the yarn weight: being a light dk/sport, is a relatively quick knit, yet not to heavy and with a good drape.
Try add some tassels for that special finishing touch!

ABOUT: Mocheni shawl is a symmetrical triangular shawl worked top-down with various sections of geometrical patterns inspired by the maritime sweaters known as Gansey sweaters, which are worked entirely with combinations of knit and purl stitches only. The shawl begins with a large tab cast-on, featuring a 6st cable motif along the border, which is also repeated along the length of the shawl in the centre, and is finished with a stretchy bind-off.

Uno scialle triangolare è un accessorio per tutte le stagioni, per tutte le età, per tutte le occasioni.
Ci è piaciuto fotografare Renzo, che secondo noi lo porta benissimo, per scardinare un po’ lo stereotipo e dimostrare la nostra tesi in pieno.
Ma avendo delle figlie, anche se ormai già grandicelle, abbiamo pensato che Mòcheni potrebbe essere il regalo perfetto per una mamma in attesa: per i primi mesi, un morbido abbraccio per il nuovo nato, e poi per il resto della famiglia. Ho personalmente esperienza di scialli donati come copertine per neonato, che sono stati poi adorati da ogni membro della famiglia. Tra l’altro, essendo lavorato con un peso sport/dk, è veloce da fare ma resta comunque leggero.
Delle nappe potrebbero essere un tocco finale interessante!

NOTE: Mocheni è uno scialle triangolare simmetrico top-down con varie sezioni di motivi geometrici ispirati ai maglioni in stile marinaro noti come maglioni Gansey, che sono lavorati interamente con motivi a diritto e a rovescio. Lo scialle comincia con un largo tab cast-on che presenta lungo il bordo un motivo a treccia su 6 maglie, ripetuto anche al centro su tutta la lunghezza dello scialle, e termina con una chiusura elastica.
