They both are great machine washable yarns. You need only one skein for Arroyo(S size) and two skeins for RIOS(L size). I usually like to knit RIOS with 5sts/1” gauge, but for this project, knitting a little bit looser makes a softer garment with mock cables.
Note for designs
- This cardigan is an unisex design. The instructions come with buttonholes on both sides. When you sew the buttons on, you can simply close the holes.
- You can choose either 3 buttons or 5 buttons.
- The size of buttonholes will vary by yarn, so I recommend to buy buttons after making buttonholes.
- Mock cables are super easy and cute. You don’t need to use a cable needle. Instructions are on the pattern.
- After checking the gauge, you will need one 24”long circular needle and one same size straight needles.(You may use another circular needle.) - Start knitting with circular needle. When dividing sts at underarm, you use straight needles to knit sleeves and use circular needle as a stitch holder.
- Since you knit with different gauge for different sizes, please understand that the bigger size cardigan has chunkier look than smaller size cardigan. (The white cardigan is S size.)
