A PDF pattern for a pair of double knit, cosy socks in a deceptively easy mock-cable pattern. Perfect for inside boots and around the house. The cable knit round the legs give a comfortable grip on the ankle to ensure they stay on in bed!

The socks are worked in the round and can be customised to fit all sizes of adult foot. The instructions below make a pair to fit UK women’s size 6-7 foot (US 8-9, Eur 39-40). From top of rib to bottom of heel is 10 inches (25.5 cm) and from back of heel to tip of toe is 9 inches (23 cm).

For a wider/ larger foot, work on thicker gauge needles and/or, add in extra pattern repeats on the leg and foot.

For a narrower/ smaller foot, work on thinner gauge needles and reduce the number of pattern repeats.

Materials
3.75 mm (Size 9) circular needle or set of double pointed needles.
Spare needle in the same size as main needles
3 large safety pins
Sewing needle
Stitch holder
Stitch markers

Approximately 100g of double knitting yarn in total, depending on sizing. The socks were designed to use up leftover yarn. The illustrated socks weigh 81 grams, so allow at least 85g if working the given size in a single colour. On the colourway shown, the black rib and toe took 16g and the red heel took 8g. This leaves 57g of yellow yarn used. However, every yarn is different, so please ensure you leave yourself extra yarn on hand, especially if you’re working a bigger size!
