Mod Maude Shawl
Mod Maude was inspired by a photo of a striped mug I saw on Pinterest, where the stripes were offset in the middle. To avoid working from two balls of yarn at once, and to make it more interesting while knitting garter stitch, one half of the shawl is worked from the top out, then the second piece is joined to the first as you knit. Short rows, using simple wrapping and turning, are incorporated to vary the width of the stripes, creating an optical illusion. Change it up by working it in just two colors, or use up sock yarn remnants for varying stripes against a main color.
Written instructions, with photo tutorial appendix for picking up and knitting wraps, and joining as you go.
