This is a pattern originally published in the Russian language magazine Журнал Мод № 457, 2004, where its photo can be found on page 32, and the accompanying chart and instructions on page 157. Later, it was republished in a double issue devoted to hats, №527.

Although originally name just “Model 32 hat” in the magazine, since its publication, the hat has been dubbed “Kuban Hat” (Шапка кубанка, Шапочка кубанка, Шапочка кубаночка) by many knitters, owing to its shape.
