Arabidopsis thaliana, AKA thale cress or mouse-ear cress, is a small flowering plant native to Eurasia and Africa which is generally considered to be a weed.
A. thaliana is a popular model organism in plant biology and genetics. Due to its relatively short life cycle, it is a useful tool for understanding the molecular biology of many plant traits, including flower development and light sensing.
A. thaliana has one of the smallest genomes among plants, which is composed of five chromosomes. This is useful for genetic mapping and sequencing. It was the first plant to have its genome sequenced.

Materials
• DK weight yarn in white, green, yellow and brown or light blue.
• 3.5mm crochet hook.
• Yarn needle
• Fiberfill stuffing
• Wire (I used 20 Gauge Wire)
• Plant pot or petri dish: To make the full plant, it is best to use a plant pot to properly support the wire structure. However, I have also included instructions for a seedling version of the plant in a petri dish.
