Model Organism: Fruit Fly
Drosophila melanogaster, also known as fruit flies or vinegar flies, are commonly used for scientific research because they are easy to keep in the laboratory, have a fast lifecycle and lay many eggs, and have a relatively simple genome containing only 4 pairs of chromosomes. In spite of this, about 60% of genes are conserved between humans and Drosophila, making them a useful genetic model for several human diseases.
This pattern has 2 versions for male and female patterning, which affects the last few rounds of the body.
Finished dimensions: 14cm long and 5cm wide.
