My 10 year-old son told me he wanted a blanket that had a “modern aesthetic” look, which is apparently a thing on TikTok. Of course, I’m too ancient to know what this means, so he designed this blanket himself. He drew a sketch, and I figured out how to make it happen.

This blanket is worked in rows, with no joining necessary. The raised cables on the vertical stripe give visual interest, but they also add a sensory element for my fidgety boy. There are five narrow vertical cables and five horizontal sections, because matching numbers is also part of the “aesthetic” look. Or maybe that’s part of the modern look. I don’t know. I’m too old. But we made a pretty blanket together.
