Modern Mondrian Blanket
This garter stitch blanket is made in three vertical intarsia panels that are joined with the three-needle bind off. The outer black border is picked up and knit after the panels are joined.
Yarn Requirements: Knitpicks Brava Bulky, 136 yds/100 grams, 3 balls Red, 3 balls Celestial (blue), 3 balls Canary (yellow), 5 balls White, and 5 balls Black.
Gauge: In garter, 12 sts = 4 inches/10cm. Gauge is not crucial for this blanket.
Needles: #10 US/6mm, 24-inch/61cm long circular (or longer). You will need two circulars to connect the panels. They can be different lengths, but the needle tips should be the same size.
Notes: All stitches are knit (garter stitch) using the intarsia technique with a separate ball of yarn for each section. You may want to wind two smaller balls of black and white in advance, because some rows require two balls of those colors. Twist the strands around each other when changing from one color to another—do not strand any color across the back of the blanket. Cut the yarn when you are finished working each block of color, leaving 4-inch tails to weave in later on the wrong side.
Please Note: This pattern has errata, so if you purchased it before 04/27/2017, be sure to look for the corrected version in your Knit Picks pattern library. The Ravelry download does not have known errata.
