Modified V Stitch Cowl
A warm and snuggly cowl which is quick to make. I wanted a cowl that would keep my neck warm without being baggy, so I made this to be close fitting. I used all of both balls of yarn. The pattern could be adapted and made bigger for a looser fit, but you will need more yarn.
The yarn used is held double. I like the heathered effect achieved by using 2 contrasting colours of yarn. Using 2 strands of the same colour would work too for a more solid effect.
I have made several of these cowls now using different combinations of Drops Alpaca and Drops Baby Alpaca Silk. Using one strand of Alpaca and one strand of Alpaca Silk made a much softer feeling garment. Using both strands of Alpaca Silk was definitely the softer option.
The pattern uses UK crochet terminology.
Gauge measured width ways - 5 V Stitch clusters or 5 Treble clusters equals 4 inches.
