An awesome project for the beginning crochet student! This modular tray organizer pattern works up quickly with incredibly useful results.
All instructions are written out completely with the beginner in mind, using no abbreviations. Includes both USA and UK notation. Requires knowledge of the following stitches:
chain stitch
slip stitch
single crochet (double crochet in the UK)
working through back loop
Compartments are assembled with a blunt yarn needle using blanket stitch, although whip stitch may easily be substituted.
When selecting yarn for this project, keep in mind that cotton makes a soft and sturdy fabric, acrylic is a tad floppy alone, but works well when blended with other fibers, wool creates cozy texture, while blends such as alpaca, linen, or metallic fibers add unique depth and richness to your final project.
