Modular Shawl
I wanted to create something useful and neat and a bit different using yarn from my stash with the long color stripes. This is what I came up with. But to fancy it just a bit, I put a lace edging on it. A simple one (1) row lace pattern! If a person is really adventurous they can use their own lace pattern. Or leave it off if you are making this for a fella.
This pattern is perfect for someone who has not knit a shawl yet. With it being in garter stitch, it is also a bit faster to do.
You start with a provisional cast on and then proceed to knit the first side. All the pick up and knits are done from the right side of the garment. Keeps it easier and looks neater that way.
I have had many folks asking about using a different yarn and needle on designs, so for this one I did the smaller one with Size 5 (US) and a (3) weight yarn. The larger one uses Size 7 (US) and a worsted weight yarn.
The smaller one measures 32 inches deep and 69 inches along the top edge. The larger one measures 40 inches deep and 80 inches along the top edge. And that cotton makes for a very warm shawl!
Many thanks to Norita W. for testing this one for me! Your shawl is very lovely.
Thank you for choosing my pattern!
