Mohair Don't Care Cowl
This is a great project for the adventurous beginner and results in a luxuriously soft, airy cowl that pillows and falls beautifully around the neckline due to it’s double-sided tube-like construction. It’s also budget-friendly as it usually only requires a single skein of Mohair to complete it and get a lovely result!
You need an 80 cm 4.5mm circular needle (US size 7) and another one of the same length of the same or smaller size, a tapestry needle, some waste yarn and a stitch marker.
I love making these and I hope you will too. Happy knitting!
Variations to try
Two colors: Create a reversible duo-colored cowl by dividing the length of your work equally between two different colors of yarn. Once finished, simply turn it inside out to wear the other color keeping the seamed edge at the bottom.
Simplified: Don’t want to use a provisional cast-on or finish by kitchener stitching?
Use a loose long tail cast-on and run the second smaller circular needle through each beginning stitch of the first round at the bottom of your work and then use a three-needle bind-off to seam your work closed. Simply hide the seam halfway up inside your finished cowl (side closest to your skin). Alternatively, just cast-off loosely and seam normally. Hide the seam.
Yarn: Hate mohair? Try this pattern with any lace weight or cobweb yarn like Baby Suri Alpaca and Silk
