Mohawk Trail Knit Hat
The Mohawk trail in the Northeast United States was used by Native Americans as a travel and trade route to points east and west. Today it’s a beautiful and scenic tourist route and highway across the region attracting many leaf peepers from around the world. I have many happy memories of driving through the beautiful autumn foliage both as a child and as an adult with my own children, stopping along the way at little restaurants and trinket shops.
This stranded color work hat features vibrant autumn leaves on a dark background. I used 5 different colors to give the leaves a variegated effect with many rows having 3 colors. You could get a similar look by using a tonal or variegated yarn, if you prefer.
I used worsted weight yarn on US size 7 needles at a gauge of 5 stitches and 6 rows to the inch. As written the pattern produces an adult size large hat to fit a 22 inch head. Size can be adjusted by using different size yarn and needles. I can help you with this if needed. Feel free to contact me.
This pattern is suitable for an intermediate level knitter. I am always available for pattern support and knitting advice. Please just ask!
