“Moin” is a common greeting in Northern Germany – although it sounds a bit like “Good morning”, you can use it all day long if you meet people.

This simple, casual slipover in an optimistic yellow color (of a somewhat dusty sun) uses only two easy stitch patterns, “Roman Stitch” and “Roman Rib Stitch”. In contrast to the classic narrow slipovers from the 70s, it is a bit oversized with a hint of short sleeves. It is worked in a Sport Weight yarn so that it won’t get too warm when worn over a longsleeve.

Yarn & gauge
Needles: Main needle size is 3,25mm; 2,75mm and 3,0mm for edges. Gauge: 24 sts x 38 rows in Roman Stitch.

Approx. 900/ 1000/ 1100/ 1200/ 1300 m of a Sport/ Fingering weight yarn needed.

For my sample, I have used Rowan Felted Tweed (50% Merino, 25% Alpaca, 35% Rayon, 175m/ 50g).

Ruppert Garne Soft Donegal (100% wool, 190m/ 50g) is a tweedy yarn with the same gauge, while Rosários 4 Alvor (50% wool, 50% linen, 310m/ 100g) would be a good substitute with drape if you are looking for something cooler. Or use Ruppert Garne Soft Lamb (100% wool, 425m/ 50g) with 2 strands held together.

The slipover comes along in 5 sizes, with bust circumference 91/ 96/ 104/ 111/ 120cm (that is between 36 and 47 inches).
It should be worn with a little bit of ease.

Worked at a gauge of 2 sts more/ less on 10cm, the slipover will get approx. one size smaller/ bigger.
