Mojave Shawl
“Mojave” shawl is a triangle knitted bottom up in a gorgeous tussah silk. It has beautiful drape and sheen and can be worn in many ways wrapped around shoulders or neck. Its earthy colours make it a very elegant and wearable piece which will go with many outfits sporty or elegant.
The size is a quite generous 82” wingspan and 31” depth and shape is achieved by side increases.
The yarn requirements are:
Main colour: 580-600m/145-150g
Contrast colour 1: 110-115m/28-30g
Contrast colour 2: 50-55m/13-15g
The sample uses MC “Son of Warlock” (brown and variegated silk); CC1 “Starfish” (rusty/orange) and CC2 “Pollen” (light gold).
The use of 3 different colours and different textures make it interesting and fun to knit.
The pattern is written only and suited for knitters of any skill level.
When substituting yarn with one containing wool be aware that the size will be a bit smaller as wool has memory and it will spring back to its previous shape after blocking. If an even bigger size is desired use sport weight yarn.
Experiment with colour combinations and have fun with it!
