Mom's Sunhat
This past summer, I was diagnosed with a cancerous mole on my back. Since then, I have been far more diligent about keeping out of the sun without adequate protection. I looked for a long time for a hat design that really appealed to me, and I couldn’t find one. I modified my Summer Fun Sun Hat pattern to be a little more grown up (and a little bigger) so that I could keep my head and neck covered this summer. I hope you enjoy it, too.
This pattern is a top-down design that uses both double pointed and circular needles. The bind off edge is worked with a crochet hook to make the finished edge stretchy. It is fun to knit and works up fast.
Yarn:
4 balls of Aunt Lydia’s Classic Crochet Thread. Colors shown in model are: Shades of Purple (235479), Pastels Variegated (235495), Mint Green (235489), and French Rose (235500). Hat is worked with four strands held throughout.
Needles:
24” circular, and double pointed needles in size US6 (4 mm), or size needed to achieve gauge
