The blanket was inspired by Piet Mondriaan’s later artwork. I’m talking about his geometric artwork where he used not only the three primary colors of blue, red and yellow and the three primary values of black, white & grey but also the two primary directions (horizontal and vertical).

The blanket is knit using the Modular Knitting technique, meaning you will cast on once for the 1st section, from there on you will be picking up stitches to create the next section and sometimes attaching these sections to previously knit sections.

There is a photo tutorial included for several of the techniques used as well as links to videos for the various techniques.

This blanket is 100% customizable. The pattern includes 3 different ways of reading the chart, but you are able to change it to create a bigger or smaller blanket.

Changing yarn and needles will also affect the size of the blanket. I would suggest using the bulkier weight yarn and knitting the smaller version provided and the lighter weight yarns knitting the larger version provided.
