Mondrian sweater
This double-knit sweater is inspired by the work of the artist Piet Mondrian.
The pattern builds blocks of colour in turned rows of hdc and then connects them with black vertical and horizontal bars of sc. It is made in two sides, worked from bottom to top and then seamed together. Long sleeves are made shoulder to cuff separately, and seamed to the bodice. Bottom ribbing is added to complete the sweater.
The pattern provides details of sizes S (bust 34”) to XXL (bust 46”) with options for a higher or lower neckline.
This is intermediate skill-level pattern, with instructions for each row of colour blocks, and the bars which connect them. There are illustrations of each piece in schematic form, with a photograph of the finished piece. Each of the special methods (colour block, horizontal bar, vertical bar) is described in a photo tutorial at the end of the pattern.
