The Mongolian death worm, also known as “olgoi-khorkhoi”, is a somewhat obscure cryptid creature, rumored to live in the Gobi Desert. It’s said to be fearsomely poisonous and able to grow into considerable sizes.

This crocheted version makes for a safe pet though. It sports a lamprey-esque mouth with a row of sharp
teeth and a segmented, armor-like body, which can be worked as long as one pleases. With an added armature the finished worm can be easily posed, or the worm can be left without an armature to be a soft and plushy cuddle-monster.

Many parts of this pattern employ front and back post single crochets, and as such this pattern is suitable for more advanced crocheters who are familiar with these stitches. The worm in the pictures is made with fine/weight 2 yarn, and measures about 30cm/13in in total length.

This 9-page digital PDF contains row-by-row crochet patterns for creating the worm, along with a lot of progression pics for help.
