THE MONSTER DOODLE STANDARD COWL This pattern is worked in the round, beginning with a ribbed bottom edge, followed by stranded colorwork, and finishing in ribbing along the top edge.
This is a Doodle Series Pattern, which means it includes micro charts intended to be used as mix-and-match colorwork motifs throughout the project. This “monster doodle” is inspired by all your favorite scary Halloween monsters and creepy creatures!

Height: 12 in 30 cm
Circumference: 20 (24, 28) in 50, 60 (70) cm
YARN
Any DK, light worsted, or sport weight yarn.
Sample uses Yarnaceous Fibers Camara DK base, 75% Superwash Merino / 25% Nylon, (6) 50g skeins, 732 yards 669 m total; Colors: Monster Doodle Kit
Yardage listed in total yards per size due to the customizable nature of this pattern.
- 340 (400, 465) yards 311 (366, 425) meters
- Approx. (1) 100g skein main color and (3-6) 20g skeins accent colors
NOTE: Tapered version will use slightly less yardage than the standard cowl due to the decreases near the top of the cowl.
NEEDLES
Main Fabric: US 5/3.75 mm or size to obtain gauge
Ribbing: US 4/3.5 mm or one size smaller than gauge
24 or 32 in 60 or 80 cm circular needles, depending on size selected
GAUGE
24 sts and 24 rows per 4 in 10 cm in colorwork
NOTIONS
5 (6, 7) removable stitch markers (one in different color)
Scissors & Tapestry needle
SPECIAL TECHNIQUES
Special techniques include stranded colorwork in the round and twisted ribbing.
