Monster Truck filet blanket
Welcome to my Monster Truck filet crochet pattern.
My boys one day asked me if I could make them a Monster Truck blanket. Challenge accepted! To the drawing board! I wanted to keep it fairly simple, as they’re not famous for their patience, so I came up with this simple filet pattern, hope you like it as much as they do.
Even if you only have a couple of hours a day to work on this, it can be done within a week.
This blanket uses the most basic filet crochet technique, may even be suitable as a first blanket project. As long as you are able to crochet Double Crochet (UK Treble Crochet) in rows, you will be able to make this blanket.
The pattern is written using US terminology with UK terminology included in brackets.
There are graphs and detailed written instructions to help you on your journey.
There are two versions of this pattern, a Simple one and a Personalised one, where you can choose from smaller or larger letters to add to your blanket.
I have also included a picture tutorial on how to achieve nice straight edges, so you don’t even need to add a border if you don’t want to.
This pattern consists of 5 files:
1: Introduction and General Instructions
2: Pattern file: Simple and Personalised Versions: one page graph, suitable for printing and written instructions
3: Alphabet file: two charts with small and large letters to help you personalise your blanket.
4: Large PDF graph for the Simple version to use if you keep track of your progress on a computer or tablet
5: Large PDF graph for the Personalised version with space left blank for your own letters
Please note: the Alphabets are charts only.
Yarn and gauge:
I have used Aran weight yarn and all calculations are made accordingly.
You can use any yarn and any gauge, just bear in mind that your finished item will be smaller or larger depending on your gauge, yarn and hook size, also the amount of yarn you’ll need will also be different.
Gauge: 12 stitches x 8 rows = 10x10cm (it isn’t important to match this, approximate yardage and size was calculated using this gauge)
Width: 100cm (without border)
Height: 135cm (without border)
Yarn requirement:
Body of the blanket: 1200m
Border: 200m (if you keep it as simple as I did)
Blanket size(using aran/worsted weight yarn and 5 mm hook)
135x100cm without the border.
Should you need any help, do not hesitate to contact me.
Happy hooking!
