Designed for my Fall 2019 Knit For Fun Retreat in Mont Tremblant, Quebec, Canada, this cowl features cables and directional decreases in a diagonal pattern that makes me think of ski and snowboard tracks in snow.
The relatively simple pattern repeats over 18 stitches and 6 rounds.
The yarn, a delightful DK-weight bland of 90% superwash merino and 10% silk was specially dyed by Canadian dyer Julie Asselin in a colorway (called Knit For Fun) inspired by the blue water of Lac Tremblant.
Both charted and written instructions are provided.

To change the circumference of the cowl, add or subtract cast-on stitches in multiples of 18. Every 18 stitches added or subtracted will change the circumference by about 2 3/4” (7 cm). You will need more yarn if you make the cowl larger.

To change the height of the cowl, add or subtract multiples of the 6-round pattern. Every 6 rounds added or subtracted will change the height by about 3/4” (2 cm). You will need more yarn if you make the cowl taller.

For easier knitting, a marker is placed after every 18-stitch pattern repeat.
