Once more exploring geometry and sharp lines, Montauk is the cousin of Kennebunkport… close enough to be family but also a guy of its own. Simple garter and stockinette make for a stunning piece to wrap around your neck. Fisherman’s Rib gives it a cushy border. It is also knitted with Holst Supersoft in a warm, speckled brown… that ultimately lead to the scarf’s name…thinking of cigars smoked by a book’s character… in Montauk.

Yarn: Holst Supersoft, 287 m (314 yards)/50 g
Yardage for sample: app. 1150 to 2255 m / 1260 to 2466 yards (5 skeins), held double, shown in colour Scots Pine

If you use a heavier yarn weight (held single, e.g. dk weight) you will need app. half of the yardage stated above.

You may substitute with any yarn that knits up to gauge. Please keep in mind that differences in gauge affect yardage; so make sure you have enough yarn to finish your project!

Needles: 4 mm/US 6 and 3.5 mm/US 4; circular needle, cable 80 cm/32” or longer

Notions: 4 stitchmarkers, 1 removable stitchmarker, tapestry needle for weaving in ends, pins for blocking (optional)

Gauge: 19 stitches/22 rows in stockinette stitch, after washing and blocking with relaxed fabric

Size: 197 x 26 cm (78x 11 inches)

Thank you to all my testers for your work and the beautiful shawls you made!
