Moodna Creek Socks
The Moodna Creek Socks are the first in a new series called the Hometown Collection. I’ve lived in four different places in my life for a number of years that had the most impact on me. I spent the first part of my life in New York, just a few hours from New York City, I was born in the Bay Area and spent a few years living there, some of my favorite times were living at the Jersey Shore where I finished high school and had some of the most memorable moments, and lastly, I’ve spent most of my life in Lexington, Kentucky far from family. There are 12 accessories total 3 for each location. All 4 places I will always consider Home.
The Moodna Creek ran through my backyard. I’m serious - it literally went through my yard. I fished, swam, waded, tried to skip rocks into, and hiked into the woods along this creek. It was a huge part of my life. The Moodna Creek runs from Salisbury Mills, NY, then past our old home, and for us it ended in a spillway at the edge of the property before it continued up and out into the Hudson River.
I interpreted it as a winding cable that spills into a picot hem It features three sizes, a German short-row heel, and a picot hem. , Unlike my previous patterns this is a toe up only pattern and as of right now does not feature cuff down instructions.
I have included video links in the pattern to my favorite resources for cast-ons, German short row, and the picot hem to help with these techniques.
There are three sizes, women’s small, medium, and woman’s large/men’s medium. These sizes are for the circumference of your ankle - not your shoe size.
Woman’s Small: 7-9 inches around the ankle.
Woman’s Medium: 7.5-10 inches around the ankle.
Women’s Large/Men’s Medium: 8-12 inches around the ankle
There are written and charted instructions included with the pattern.
