Moon Blossom
This pattern creates a three-dimensional granny or afghan square which features a flower. It comes in two sizes - original and large.

This pattern page shows the links to the original square. For the large square please visit:

THE ORIGINAL SQUARE
The square pictured in the first four photos was made with a 4 mm hook and Stylecraft double knitting yarn in five colours, with an optional sixth colour. It has not been blocked and measures approximately 5 ¼ inches wide, horizontally not diagonally, including the optional final round.
Gauge is not important so you can use a yarn and hook size of your own choice to make as many squares as you need for your project.
THE LARGE SQUARE
The last photo shows the large square which was made with a 5.5 mm hook in four colours. I suggest using an Aran weight yarn such as Stylecraft Special Aran. The sample square shown has not been blocked and measures approximately 12 inches wide, horizontally not diagonally.
Gauge is not important as the outer rounds of the pattern are flexible enough to be repeated to increase the width or left out altogether to reduce it to exactly the right size.
BOTH SQUARES
You will need a needle to sew in your ends.
