Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed. ~~ Neil Armstrong*

In 1969 Apollo 11 landed on the moon on a very bumpy area of the moon’s surface called the Sea of Tranquility that is on the far side of the moon and the side of the moon we can not see from Earth. Within three hours the astronauts had walked on the moon and completed a variety of tasks, one of which was to collect moon rocks and dust. Soon, they prepared for take off for their journey back to Earth and made a safe re-entry and splash down.

For my Moon Rocks scarf, I used one-half skein of my favorite single-ply fingering weight yarn, Malabrigo Mechita (420 yards/100 grams) in the color “Ilusion”.

Moon Rocks is a simple bandana-style cowl that is crocheted flat from the bottom up with an easy two-row repeat, then lightly wet blocked and seamed, The stitch pattern is an open mesh and features small bumps, picot stitches, in the openings of the ch 2 spaces giving an interesting look to the stitch pattern.

Pick your favorite calming color and enjoy crocheting this no-stress project while you sink back into your own sea of tranquility and relax, watch a movie, or visit with friends. And, you can make two cowls with one skein of Mechita making this cowl great for gifting!

Skills required: chain, slip stitch, double crochet
