This Mooncloud Shawl is a chart only pattern. Perfect for those chilly late night broomstick rides! This one shown is finished with an additional strand of Kidsilk Haze Dewberry in the lovely purlwise/yo bind off — which gives a nice chain edge, almost like I-cord. To do (either RS or WS row facing): Slip 1rst stitch purlwise, °yo as before purl stitch, purl 1, slip first stitch and yo over last purled stitch°, repeat. Try it, it’s cool. And very stretchy.

Meant for variegated or self-striping yarns which will show the larger than lace straight stripe/ripple stripe pattern. But it might look nice in a solid, too. (It does! Check out Gwennyfhar’s version!)

This is a small/medium shawl. If you want to make this bigger than given, use bigger needles, or simply repeat the Chart D x 1 (straight stripe) then Chart C x 2 (ripple stripe) sequence as often as you need to. Ending with any row of Chart C will given a rippled edge.

Extra Special Hint: Knitting through the back loops right before and right after the middle insert lateral increase yarnovers will give a crisper look to the panel.
Print with horizontal page setup.
